Nature experiences
The trail around the lake is perfect for a pleasant walk or bike ride. The quiet, shaded sections of the shoreline are also ideal for picnics and birdwatching.
Thanks to its rich fish population, the lake is a popular destination for fishing. With a daily permit, it is also a great recreational activity for beginners.
Guests can enjoy swimming at the designated beach section of the lake. Families with children are welcomed by shallow waters and a playground.
On the northern side of the lake, there is also a dog-friendly beach area where your four-legged companion can safely swim and play. Lake Borostyán and our guesthouse are dog-friendly destinations, so the whole family—including dogs—can enjoy a relaxing stay!

A well-maintained, easy walking trail starting from Zalalövő, that introduces the local flora and fauna.
Őrség National Park
A wild and picturesque landscape of gentle hills, traditional scattered settlements, viewpoints, and open-air museums – a true treasure for lovers of nature and heritage. The hiking and cycling routes are suitable for both walking and biking.
Birdwatching hides and floodplain trails in Muraszemenye
A favourite destination for nature photographers and birdwatchers. Especially stunning in spring and autumn.

Őrség Open-Air Museum – Szalafő, Pityerszer
Visit the heart of the Őrség region, where the traditional “szeres” village structure, thatched-roof houses, and original interiors showcase historic rural life. The open-air museum offers a particularly enjoyable experience for families with children.
Pottery making in Magyarszombatfa One of the centres of Őrség pottery, where you can try the art of clay crafting – even as part of a guided workshop. A memorable experience and the chance to create your own handmade souvenir.
AquaCity Water Park – Zalaegerszeg – If you are looking for an active water-based program, AquaCity is an excellent choice: slides, a wave pool, adventure pools, and a dedicated children’s area all await visitors.
Gastronomic recommendations
Oil press houses – the “gold of Őrség” – Visit a local pumpkin seed or walnut oil pressing workshop, where you can observe the traditional oil-making process up close and, of course, taste these golden, aromatic specialities.
Strudel houses – do not miss the strudel tradition of the Őrség region: many places offer freshly baked, hand-stretched strudels – with cottage cheese, poppy seed, or pumpkin-poppy seed fillings. Enjoyed with a glass of homemade syrup or coffee, it is a truly rural experience.
Dödölle – This hearty, traditional dish made from potatoes and flour, served with fried onions and sour cream, is a true countryside speciality. It is a regular feature on the menus of local restaurants.
